Colonial Employees Visit Western Hills Elementary for 'High Five' Initiative

WESTERNHILLS.jpgOn Friday, April 7, a group of Colonial employees spanning multiple departments visited Western Hills Elementary School in Fort Worth to participate in their "High Five" Initiative.

Every six weeks, community volunteers and parents lineup outside the school entrances to give high-fives to incoming students as a way to encourage them to do their best at school. Colonial employees also handed out wacky pencils and gum much to the students delight.

The school came from humble beginnings, first operating out of a portable building in 1961 until the school building was completed in 1966. To date, Western Hills educates more than 850 second through fifth grade students.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers. To see these children's faces light up with joy when as they arrived for school was a real treat.
