On April 26, 2017, the Colonial Savings Foundation donated $5,000 to the Center for Transforming Lives. Located in Fort Worth, Texas, the Center for Transforming Lives "moves women, children and families from poverty to independence through housing stability, affordable high-quality child care and financial empowerment coaching."
Started in 1907 as the first YWCA in the state of Texas, the Center for Transforming Lives began as a boarding house, cafeteria and employment bureau for women who were coming to Fort Worth in search of employment. Today, the organization has an annual operating budget of more than $6 million, offering their services for more than 2,500 low-income and homeless women, children and families break the cycle of poverty.
